Case Study
Component-based Training Plans
This project initiated by a bank who is required to ensure that all staff are appropriately trained in a range of compliance
matters and to be able to report to the banking regulator.
The key issue for the Bank is that the list of training required for compliance varies by the country that employee works in,
which banking division, whether they deal with customers or not and so on. Added to this there are over 30,000 staff and
regular staff movements and promotions can change an individual’s compliance requirements. Finally the reporting of
compliance is made more complex by regular modifications to the organisation hierarchy.
The key stakeholders were senior managers in each of the divisions plus their compliance managers.
The client wanted to use their current eLearning environment supplied by Collectivity, for all staff throughout Australia and
worldwide.
After analysing the issues and compliance frameworks, Collectivity recommended a solution which was identified as a
‘Component-based Training Plan’ whereby a unique training plan can be generated for each employee through a combination
of system driven rules (such as the country of employment) together with a set of questions. Staff movements, notified
through a HR data feed, trigger a process for updating the employee’s training plan.
Compliance reporting is linked to the company’s organisational structure allowing compliance managers to ‘drill down’
through the organisation to check on compliance at any level.
Outcomes:
The system was launched in December 2007 and to date over 300,000 individual course registrations have generated from
these new compliance training plans.
In addition, compliance managers can see up-to-date compliance reports at any level in the organisation.
